Overall Feel and Getting Around
If you arrive at the central train station, you should be fine getting around to any major attractions in Salzburg. We just walked along the main strip and enjoyed lunch at a sky bar that you can read about here.
Sites We Visited
Mozart House
Growing up as a couple of band kids, we had to stop and see the Mozart family residence. According to history, the Mozart family lived here from 1773 to 1787. The house has many artifacts to learn about the entire family, including the legendary Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Some artifacts include sheet music, instruments, and recordings of some of Mozart’s most famous compositions.
Fortress Hohensalzburg
Besides learning about the history of Salzburg, you get an excellent view of the city and the surrounding landscape. Sitting atop Salzburg is the Hohensalzburg Castle. You can either walk or take the Festungsbahn to arrive at the fortress.
